Life is green

With all this rain we have been getting lately mushrooms have been popping up everywhere.  I went out to take a couple photos and found an unexpected guest.

When my dad was here visiting from Hawaii earlier this year he bought me a very small meyer lemon tree. To be quite honest it doesn't even look like a tree more like a bush but he insured me it would grow and eventually produce lemons in 3 years.  I named her Bianca and have watched her carefully for the past 4 months grow slowly.

To my surprise she has already started producing lemons.  I should have named her fertile Myrtle instead.  There are 10 of these little babies growing bigger and bigger, I am so flipping excited!  I'm not sure how long they take to mature but I can't wait until they do.

  1. What I would give to have a lemon tree in my backyard! And how cute the lemons are right now! They are only my FAVORITE fruit! You have great photos on your blog. Definitely have a good eye!

  2. Those are adorable lemons. It would be fun to take one and put it in some resin as a pendant or something. Then you could always have a way to remember the first lemons from your tree :3

  3. I would kill to have a lemon tree in my yard and a lime tree. Where my husband grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico he had a few lemon trees in his yard and his mom makes this delicious lemon water with it. (kind of like lemonade but not as sweet.) I wonder if I could grow a lemon tree up here in Southern Ohio. Perhaps, I should research that.

Btw, I love how green it is there. We desperately need some of that rain here.

  10. I've always been so envious of lemon trees--I love them! Especially Meyer lemons. My boss has one, and I used a bunch of lemons from her tree to make such a delicious lemon tart last weekend. :) And you live in Clearwater? My dad grew up in Tarpon Springs, and we used to visit Clearwater all the time--so beautiful! Glad I found you!
