for the LOVE of granny stripes

I have been sneaking in a little crochet here and there to keep myself sane.  There is something about the repetitive motion that is calming to me.  Especially these granny stripes that don't require me to stop and look at a pattern.  This teal and grey one was started on Easter Sunday.  I literally sat on my couch all day long and watched every Firefly episode while crocheting.  I felt like a nerdy grandma.  I only got up for food, water, and the bathroom.  It was nice to just be able to sit and relax for a change.

I ran out of the colors I needed to finish the teal and grey so I started a new one that I can work on until I'm restocked on yarn.  I'm not quite sure what I am going to do with all these blankets in the end, I guess I'll figure that out when they are completed.

This one here I finished and gave to a co-worker who is having a baby girl in less than a month.  I forgot to get a good photo of it with my camera so this iphone photo will have to do.

  1. Sounds like a perfect day to me. My mom makes afghans all the time. She usually gives them away as gifts. For any occasion.

  3. hahaha I love that you only got up to pee and eat - I do that!!! I'll drink less fluids so I pee less ahahaha :)
These are all so great! Love the greys and blue! Lucky coworker baby! I was making so many brian was teasing me lol so that's when I put some of mine on etsy - you should - if you can part with them. It's tough! Luckily mine have got to crafty homes. I have to finish Brian's mom's blanket - she basically told me she wanted one lol so I figured I should do it for mother's day, because what do you get a lady who drives a Harley and like to gamble (yikes) lol a granny blanket! ;)

  5. I really wish I had been a more patient student when my great-grandmother tried to teach me how to crochet when I was a wee thing.

  7. Beautiful work!
I'm working on a granny stripe at the moment. It's so nice to just sit and crochet without really having to think what you're doing. Very soothing, I agree.

  9. I love these! I think I am going to have to try this pattern to break away from the giant squares I have been obsessed with. Such great color combos too.

I spent Saturday night on my couch all evening crocheting and it is such a great way to relax!
