Greens

The garden has been growing all spring, even while I had been so busy with work.  The blazing hot Florida sun has been soaking in the leaves and I managed to get the garden watered in the late evenings. Do you see that fat fellow over on the right?  His name is Bernard, he moved in awhile back and has been getting fatter each day feasting on bugs.

The guy has no fear, you can touch him and he just sits there.  When I watered him yesterday he opened up his mouth and was drinking.  It's the little things that entertain I guess.
I have one Japanese eggplant that is growing bigger each day.  Plus I have quite a few new ones sprouting as we speak.
The jalapeno plant that died has magically come back to life and there is even a little tiny pepper sprouting over on the left side.  Do you see it?  I promise it's there!
The herbs I planted from seeds are also doing well.  The one basil plant I put in the regular potting soil seems to be doing much better than the ones in the vegetable garden soil.  I don't know enough about gardening to figure out why.  I'm sure it has something to do with what they mix in.

  1. What a great little friend. Sometimes pets choose you. I have had a few in my life that just moved in without even asking. My mom still has a cat that decided to live in her house over 10 years ago.

  2. Bernard is quite charming! I loved seeing the frogs and toads that would live in my parent's garden when I was little, they ate the bugs that would otherwise eat our plants. :)

  4. Your garden must be doing well if you have a little froggy in there!mm I love basil, if you pull off the little flower stalk up the top your basil will last longer and wont go to seed early <3

  5. For one who claims to not know much about gardening, you're doing so well!!!! So much of it is trial and error :)

I recommend pinching off that flower spike on your basil, though...it will buy you more time before it goes to seed and dies...

Bernard is tooo cute! What a great little Gardening Buddy :)
